What is a managed fund?
A managed fund is a pool of money from many investors that is invested (managed) by specialist fund managers. Due to their scale, managed funds can often be invested in more areas than a single investor would have access to.
What rate of return will I get on my KiwiSaver savings?
It is important that you are made aware that historical performance and forecasts of future performance are not a guarantee of how an Investment Fund will actually perform. The value of these investments can rise and fall depending on market conditions. Therefore the value of investments in the Investment Fund is dependent upon the performance of the underlying assets into which the Investment Fund invests.
As an investor while you may experience short-term losses, this is the nature of investing but you should look to choose an Investment Fund that suits your needs best to reach your retirement savings goal.

Is my KiwiSaver investment guaranteed?
While there is no guarantee in respect of your investment in the FirstChoice KiwiSaver Scheme, ASB Group Investments is a professional fund manager with extensive experience in managing superannuation funds.
We follow prudent investment practices and diversify our investments both within each asset class and between the asset classes. This serves to minimise volatility of returns limiting the impact of any one event on your overall investment.
You should expect to see some volatility in the returns on all the Investment Funds. The higher the portion of the investments in 'growth' assets such as shares and property, the greater the volatility in the return and the more likely an Investment Fund will experience periods of negative returns from time to time. On the flip side, Investment Funds with higher proportions invested in growth assets have historically provided higher returns over the long term than Investment Funds with lower proportions of growth assets. You should look to choose an Investment Fund that suits your needs best to reach your retirement savings goal.
